Offer Pickup Locations in Your Checkout
Via.Delivery adds pickup locations to your online store's checkout, right next to your other shipping options. Shoppers choose a nearby FedEx Hold at Location or UPS Access Point site from a map or list, the order ships there with FedEx or UPS, and they collect it when it suits them. You don't need a physical store.

Key facts
- 36,000+ pickup locations across the U.S. About one-third are inside pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations and convenience stores; others are shipping centers such as FedEx Office and UPS Store locations. See the pickup locations map.
- Live in under 30 minutes with a plugin install, or through our API.
- Delivery times equal to or better than ground residential shipping.
- Compliant labels generated automatically: FedEx Hold at Location and UPS Access Point.
- Packages held for 7 days, with branded reminders until the customer picks up.
Why shoppers choose pickup
- It's cheaper to ship. Pickup locations are commercial addresses, so the FedEx and UPS residential delivery surcharge ($6.45 to $6.50 per Ground package at current published rates) doesn't apply.
- It's safer. The package waits at a staffed counter instead of on the porch.
- No waiting at home to sign. For wine and other signature-required orders, the customer shows ID at the counter whenever it suits them.
- It's close by. More than 60% of customers pick up their package within 24 hours of arrival.
| Product category | Average | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Wine and other signature-required products | 16% | 12% to 26% |
| High-end accessories | 12% | 10% to 16% |
| Apparel | 8% | 6% to 13% |
| Giftable merchandise | 7% | 5% to 9% |
How it works
- Connect your store. Install the plugin for your platform, or use our API. If you ship through an order management system such as ShipStation, we connect to it too.
- Shoppers choose a location at checkout. They see the nearest pickup locations on a map or in a list, next to your other shipping options.
- We create the label. A compliant FedEx Hold at Location or UPS Access Point label is generated automatically for the chosen location.
- FedEx or UPS delivers it. The carrier picks up from wherever you already ship from and delivers to the pickup location.
- The customer is kept informed. Branded notifications at every step, and reminders until the package is collected. You can be notified when the order is picked up, too.

| Porch theft risk | Yes | No, the package is held at a staffed counter |
| Delivery time | Ground residential | Equal to or better than ground residential |
| How long the customer has | Until the carrier's last attempt | 7 days at the location |
Two ways to ship
- With your own FedEx or UPS account: keep your current carrier rates and contracts; we add the pickup option, the labels and the notifications.
- With Via.Delivery's rates: we negotiate rates for deliveries to pickup locations only, which avoid most of the surcharges that come with residential delivery.
Works with your stack
- Store platforms: Shopify, Shopify Plus, Commerce7, BigCommerce, Ecwid, and our API for custom checkouts
- Order management and fulfillment software: ShipStation, ShipHero, Fort Systems
- Wine fulfillment partners: Wineshipping, WeShipExpress, Copper Peak Logistics, Wine Country Connect, WineCub, BeyondVino
More ways to use pickup locations
- Pickup Redirect before shipping: offer pickup after the order is placed, including club and subscription orders that never go through checkout.
- Missed Delivery Redirect: when a delivery attempt fails, let the customer send the package to a pickup location instead of waiting for another attempt or a return.
FAQ
How long does it take to integrate?
Most online stores go live in under 30 minutes with the plugin or API. If you use an order management system such as ShipStation, we can integrate with it too.
How many pickup locations are there?
More than 36,000 across the U.S., shown to shoppers as a map or list in your checkout. For wine, about 20,000 locations accept alcohol.
Is pickup slower than home delivery?
No. Estimated delivery times to pickup locations are equal to or better than ground residential shipping.
Do I need a physical store?
No. The pickup locations are FedEx and UPS sites such as pharmacies, grocery stores and shipping centers, so online-only brands can offer in-person pickup.
What do customers need to pick up a package?
The pickup notification and a photo ID. For wine and other signature-required items, the ID must show they are 21 or older.
