Pickup Locations for Copper Peak Logistics Wineries
Wineries that fulfill through Copper Peak Logistics can give customers a FedEx pickup option at every point where a wine delivery can go wrong. Buyers can choose a FedEx location at checkout. Club members and other customers can move an order to pickup before Copper Peak creates the shipping label. And if a home delivery attempt fails, the customer can send the package to a nearby FedEx location instead of waiting for another attempt or a return. All three of Via.Delivery's products work with Copper Peak, and the package ships as a FedEx Hold at Location delivery.

1. Pickup at Checkout
Buyers on your online store see nearby FedEx pickup locations next to your other shipping rates. They choose one before they pay, and the order goes to Copper Peak with the pickup location as the delivery address. For wine, only locations that accept alcohol are shown.
How many buyers choose pickup when it's offered at checkout, across stores using Via.Delivery (Via.Delivery data): 12% to 26% of buyers of wine and other signature-required products, 16% on average.

2. Pickup Redirect, before the shipping label is created
Club releases are charged automatically, so club members never see a checkout. When a new order is created, Via.Delivery sends the customer an email and a text in your winery's name with the closest FedEx location that accepts wine. The customer can choose it, pick another location on the map, or keep home delivery.
The change is made before Copper Peak creates the shipping label, so the order ships straight to the pickup location as a FedEx Hold at Location delivery. There's no rerouting fee and no second trip. Customers can also check "Save this choice for future orders", and every later release from your winery goes to that location automatically.

3. Missed Delivery Redirect, after a failed delivery attempt
Some orders still go to a home address, and nobody is there to sign. Via.Delivery tracks home deliveries several times a day. When FedEx records a failed attempt, the customer gets an email and a text offering the nearest suitable FedEx location, and can redirect the package in a few taps.
With FedEx, the redirect works after the first, second or even third failed attempt, so a package can still reach the customer instead of going back to the winery.

Why pickup matters for wine shipments
Every wine shipment needs the signature of an adult aged 21 or older, and most deliveries arrive on weekdays while people are at work. A missed signature means another attempt, a trip to a carrier facility or a box returned to the winery. Pickup gives the customer a time that suits them, at a location that accepts wine.
- Signature fees repeat on every reship. At 2026 FedEx list rates, the adult signature fee is $10.00 per package. Actual costs depend on each shipper's negotiated discounts.
- Members who keep missing deliveries cancel. In our analysis of wine club member loss, one member who cancels over delivery problems can cost a winery about $1,840 in future gross profit.

- Choose where to start. Most wineries start with Pickup Redirect for club releases, where the same members miss the same deliveries release after release.
- Tell your members. Announce pickup before the next release, so members know the email and text are coming.
