Pickup Locations for Wineshipping Clients
Wineries and wine brands that fulfill through Wineshipping can offer their customers FedEx and UPS pickup locations in two ways: at checkout, and after the order is placed but before Wineshipping creates the shipping label. The integration has been live since 2022, and Via.Delivery builds and supports it together with the Wineshipping team. For 99% of Wineshipping clients it costs nothing extra: it's included in Wineshipping's services.

1. Pickup at Checkout
Buyers on your Shopify or Commerce7 store see nearby FedEx and UPS pickup locations next to your other shipping rates. They choose one before they pay, and the order reaches Wineshipping with the pickup location as the delivery address. Wineshipping ships it straight there as a FedEx Hold at Location or UPS Access Point delivery.
How many buyers choose pickup when it's offered at checkout, across stores using Via.Delivery (Via.Delivery data): 12% to 26% of buyers of wine and other signature-required products, 16% on average, the highest share of any product category we measure.

2. Pickup Redirect, before the shipping label is created
Club releases and subscription orders are charged automatically, so those customers never see a checkout. When a new order is created, Via.Delivery sends the customer an email and a text in your winery's name with the closest FedEx or UPS location that accepts wine. The customer can choose it, pick another location on the map, or keep home delivery.
Via.Delivery checks with Wineshipping that the order hasn't shipped yet, and the change is made before Wineshipping creates the label. The order then ships straight to the pickup location: no rerouting and no second trip. Customers who check "Save this choice for future orders" get every later release from your winery at that location automatically.

Shopify and Commerce7
The Wineshipping integration works with both store platforms wineries use most, including their advanced features:
- Commerce7: pickup locations in the checkout's list of shipping options, the pickup offer on the thank-you page, and email and text offers for club, web, POS and admin orders. Pickup orders get an order note with the location, a "Via.Delivery" tag, and a customer note for members who saved their choice. See Pickup locations for Commerce7.
- Shopify and Shopify Plus: pickup locations at checkout, and Pickup Redirect for new orders, including subscription orders. See Shopify and Shopify Plus.
Why wineries offer pickup
Every wine shipment needs the signature of an adult aged 21 or older, and most deliveries arrive on weekdays while people are at work. A missed signature means another attempt, a trip to a carrier facility or a box returned to the winery.
- Signature fees repeat on every reship. At 2026 list rates, the adult signature fee is $10.00 per package on FedEx and $9.35 on UPS. Actual costs depend on each shipper's negotiated discounts.
- Members who keep missing deliveries cancel. In our analysis of wine club member loss, one member who cancels over delivery problems can cost a winery about $1,840 in future gross profit.
- Customers like it. Customers who used Via.Delivery pickup rate it with an NPS of 70+.
